Comments:
The corer was bent at 5 m and 14-15 m under the weight. At the top of the core, an air bubble was present, possibly due to sediment degassing. The first and last sections were deformed by strectching. The core was taken at this position because the Dome of Gascogne is a local bathymetric high, which permits sampling of sediments which have been vertically deposited with a regular hemi-pelagic sedimentation, with minimal horizontal bottom currents. This permits observation of many climatic cycles.
