In
2005, UBO-IUEM has organized a training course in Marine Geosciences
in Brittany.
This
international Training Course has been led in the framework of the
new agreement linking Universities of Purdue
and UBO Brest.
Purdue and UBO students have gained 2 credits and 4 ECTS, respectively,
by participating in this 2-week exchange program.
The purpose of the course and the internship are to provide the
student with (1) hands-on experience in marine geology and geophysics
through an actual marine survey on a research vessel, and (2) with
the state-of-the-art of the geology of the Armorican Massif and
related scientific topics.
This exchange program is actually an opportunity for French students
to improve their level of English, as all teaching are led in English.
This Web site provides an overview of the programme led and on the
main tasks achieved
by students.
This Project has been supported by Brest
Métropole Océane (Communauté
Urbaine de Brest), Conseil
Général du Finistère, Service de la Scolarité
de l'UBO-IUEM,
and Department of Earth
& Atmospheric Sciences of Purdue University, West
Lafayette, Indiana, USA.
Special thanks are due to Gérard Jugie (IPEV),
Walter Roest, Bruno Savoye, Jean-François
Bourillet, Yves Fouquet (IFREMER),
David Menier (UBS,
Univ. Bretagne-Sud) for their free contribution in teaching and
guiding the group of students, which has been a great benefit for
all of them. Warm thanks are also due to Carole Le Hir,
Dominique Gac and Murielle Dubreule
for practical organization in Brest and to Jacques Bégot
and the CNRS crew for technical assistance on board Research Vessel
Côte
de la Manche. |
